Magnus Bane is as ever changing as the wind, but the Shadowhunter's warlock will tread a steady path through season 2.

From his looks to his demeanor, Magnus can turn on a dime. As Clary (Katherine McNamara), Simon (Alberto Rosende), Alec (Matthew Daddario), Jace (Dominic Sherwood), and Isabelle (Emeraude Toubis) close out their teenage years with a flurry of revelations, the centuries-old Brooklynite will keep a tight hold on his character traits.

"At the end of the day I think for the audience you'll see some changes but not so much for Magnus," Shum told TV Insider. "Since the first season you've seen him change within days of looks and he's a very tempered, half-human, half-demon, and he's also very impatient in the sense that he gets bored really easily. So I think you can expect definitely some different moods and changes and looks from Magnus and to not say that he's out of character but more so that he likes to spice things up a lot."

That, however, doesn't mean Magnus' Mortal Instruments story arc is safe from tamper. Shadowhunters refashioned Cassandra Clare's novels for Freeform's "sexy" vibe, shuffling the plot around in the process. Magnus and Alec are together ahead of schedule, which means their season 2 future is a bit of a mystery.

"You never know where things are going to go, and so we have seasons worth of stories planned for them that will both honor and surprise the fans and the characters," executive producer Michael Reisz told Paste. "Having [Alex] come out at the end of Season 1 gives us an opportunity to launch into the stories we have planned for the future."

We have no crystal balls, so you'll have to wait until next year for answers. Shadowhunters will return to Freeform in early 2017.
