The last episode of Dragon Ball Super could be considered the as the fruition of weeks' worth of build-up in the anime's plot, as Son Goku, Vegeta and Future Trunks face off in a high-stakes rematch with Black Goku.

Episode 56 Recap

Episode 56, Goku Black Rematch! The Appearance of Super Saiyan Rose was everything that fans have been expecting. Just as speculations predicted, Black Goku transformed into Super Saiyan Rose and took on Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta. Just as expected, however, Vegeta served the role of the villain's warm up again, as the Saiyan Prince was handily beaten by Black Goku without even breaking a sweat.

What was interesting, however, was the final scenes of the anime. As Black Goku was about to blast Goku with his corrupted version of a Kamehameha, Zamasu appears, telling the villain to back down. With this, the allegiance of Black Goku to the apprentice Kai was established.

Episode 57 Preview

The preview for Episode 57, Advent of the Immortal God, Zamasu, features Son Goku facing off with Black Goku and Future Trunks taking on Zamasu. With Vegeta out for the count, Son Goku and future Trunks would have to face their opponents one-on-one.

What is particularly interesting about the preview is the revelation that attacks do not work on Zamasu anymore. With this, it would be safe to assume that the Zamasu that Future Trunks will face in the next episode would not be the same Zamasu that Son Goku sparred with a few weeks back.

Episode 57 Deaths and Twists

With the battle between the heroes and the villains underway, it would not be surprising at all if the next episode would feature a number of twists that would push the plot of the anime significantly forward. Among these possible twists would be Zamasu's power, which at this point probably rivals that of a God of Destruction like Beerus.

In fact, there is a possibility that Zamasu might actually kill Beerus within next week's episode. If Black Goku, who can go as powerful as Super Saiyan Rose, can be commanded to stand down by Zamasu, it would be safe to assume that the apprentice Kai has achieved power far beyond the heroes of the series so far. Thus, if Beerus and Whis appear in the next episode, they might be targeted by Zamasu, and he will actually have enough power to kill the God of Destruction.

If this were to happen, Son Goku would have no other choice than to summon the Deus Ex Machina of the anime so far, the Omni-King, Zeno. Just a couple weeks ago, Zeno gave Son Goku a button that would summon the powerful being whenever he is needed by the Z fighter. Thus, if things were to get really messy, the Omni King might have to directly intervene.

As outlandish as this theory is, however, series creator Akira Toriyama himself already confirmed that powerful beings like Zeno would be involved in the Future Trunks arc. In Episode 56 and 57, Black Goku and Zamasu would certainly prove themselves as a worthy threat. Thus, their presence would justify the intervention of some of the franchise's most powerful beings to date.
