Various backstories will be explored among our main heroes on ABC's Once Upon a Time, but one of particular interest will be Charming's (Josh Dallas).

With the introduction of the Land of Untold Stories, the idea of stories and happy endings will be a main focus of people like Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Regina (Lana Parrilla). Once Upon a Time co-showrunner Adam Horowitz revealed in a new interview, however, that we'll be learning some more about Charming in the new season.

"Charming has always had questions about his family and his father that he thought were answered," Horowitz told Entertainment Weekly recently. "Charming's past becomes something very important to his future. We're going to see him and Snow [Ginnifer Goodwin] embarking on some adventure related to that past, and what that's going to create for them moving forward, which is some unexpected obstacles to that happy ending they're all trying to live."

There was some allusion to Charming confronting his past in Once Upon a Time's season 6 synopsis, which states:

"Henry [Jared Gilmore] welcomes the new arrivals from the Land of Untold Stories by pledging to help them complete their tales. But when Snow White, Prince Charming, Regina, Captain Hook [Colin O'Donoghue] and Zelena [Rebecca Mader] become entwined in these untold tales, they find themselves haunted by their own unfinished pasts."

Season 6 will also feature the introduction of several intriguing new characters, including, This "Aladdin (Deniz Akdeniz), a former Savior who may be able to offer Emma just the help she needs, Jafar (Oded Fehr), Princess Jasmine (Karin David), the Count of Monte Cristo (Craig Horner) and Morpheus (Giles Matthey)," says the season 6 synopsis.

Once Upon a Time season 6 premieres Sunday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
