The world of Supernatural is in good hands, although they belong to neither the divine nor Allstate.

Life is too easy if God is around to solve all your problems, and, just like the series clipped Cas' (Misha Collins) wings, Supernatural will put Chuck (Rob Benedict) and Amara's (Emily Swallow) help out of reach in season 12. As the cosmic forces engage in some much-needed brother-sister bonding, God will leave the fate of the Earth in the capable hands of Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles).

"God, in a lot of ways, trusts Sam and Dean more than he trusts himself," showrunner Andrew Dabb told Entertainment Weekly. "God has made mistakes. God has caused more destruction with the Amara thing, with the apocalypse and leaving the angels in charge, than Sam and Dean have. They have saved more people than he has, basically. He puts all his trust in them, or a lot of his trust in them, so I think he feels very comfortable stepping away."

That doesn't mean the big guy is gone for good. The Winchester boys will put the drama of heaven and hell aside for a while, but they always have a friend in the man upstairs.

"We're not going to play it heavily in season 12," Dabb said of God and Amara's storyline. "I wouldn't say conclusively that their story is over, but I would say that their story is happening off-screen."
