He was angry with her and on a somewhat destructive path because he learned of her affair with his brother, but now, Jack (Peter Bergmann) will find himself the target of an investigation after Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) takes a tumble down the stairs at their home and hits her head on The Young and the Restless.

She came back to the house to try and reconcile with Jack again, but when she reached out for him and he pulled away, she lost her balance and fell, hitting her head and being knocked unconscious. Unfortunately for Jack, Billy (Jason Thompson) of all people walked in at the time of the fall and has jumped to the wrong conclusions, and now, as he calls 911 and tells his brother ty stay away from Phyllis, Jack will be bent over her, trying to see if he can bring her back to consciousness.

"Phyllis, can you hear me?" He asks in a preview clip for the Friday, September 23 episode.

Meanwhile, at the police station, Paul (Doug Davidson), Dylan (Steve Burton) and Kevin (Greg Rikaart) will be informed about the accident as well, and the shock over who is hurt will lead to them knowing they need to look into the matter as thoroughly as possible.

"Someone hit her head and is uinconscious," Paul says to the other two in the clip.

"Why would they call you?" Kevin asks.

"It was at the Abbott estate," he replies.

"Phyllis?" Kevin asks.

However, after Phyllis is brought into the hospital, the men will start to question jack to find out what happened, and to see if he may have genuinely tries to hurt his wife, and though Jack will acknowledge that he was angry and upset with her, he will swear that hurting her was never something he wanted to do, or had even intended, and her fall was genuinely an accident. But now, if this has made him more inclined to possibly try and reunite with Phyllis, it could have led instead to her being more amenable to a future with Billy.

The Young and the Restless airs Monday-Friday at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
