The long awaited Honda Civic hatchback has finally made its first public debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, as a prototype model. The five-door hatchback is reported to go on for sale in the United States. According to potential sources, the model will make its official debut in the market in North America as it primary selling region. Sales of the same in various parts of Europe reportedly begins in the early months of 2017. The car will be exported around the world from mid-term 2017.

Honda's new Civic will be based on the tenth-generation Civic, which was revealed recently. It will be built like the regular Hatchback in Swindon by Honda's UK Manufacturing (HUM). The model will be designed with six-speed manual transmission. According to University Herald, the car will be offered in five trims namely: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L Navi and Sport-Touring. Among all these, only the LX model and Sport model will offer the standard transmission, the rest models are reported to get continuously variable transmission (CVT) system.

As reported by Autoweek, all the instances of this hatchback will come with turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engines, but no diesel engine will be manufactured initially. As per indications are concerned, LX and EX trims of the hatch will be equipped 174 hp and 167 lb-ft engine specifications, whereas, Sport and Sport Touring will be equipped with 180 hp and 177 lb-ft engine. The engine will also include a centrally mounted exhaust for smooth performance. However, the CVT-equipped cars are reported to be down by 5 hp and 15 lb-ft in both cases.

Besides all those features, the new Civic is reported to come with all new  platform, which is 16kg lighter than before. The torsional stiffness is being enhanced to 52%. Both of these measures should entice the car's treatment to make it more responsive and engaging from behind the wheels. The new model is also claimed by the creators to be more advanced in comfort, handling and refinement, as it features 'heavily revised suspension' including  a complex independent multilink setup at the rear, as well as four-stage adaptive damping on high-end models.

The new model is claimed to be longer and wider in measures of space among its any other forerunners. Honda claims that, despite the lower roofline, there is more room inside than before as the wheelbase has been stretched by 30mm. Repositioning of the fuel tank, as it is said to be, indicates that Honda's clever Magic Seats and flat rear floor have been sacrificed. But a sliding and removable compact parcel shelf have been included with the rear seats in place as an extra addition.

The price range is believed to start from $20,535.Honda hasn't announced the price on the Sport Touring trim, but the EX-L Navi has been indicated to start from $26,135. With all the exclusive features, Honda Civic hatchback is expected to bounce on the road from the middle of the next year.
