Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher: an affair written in the stars.

Fisher revealed a secret kept for multiple decades in a new interview with People. The actress, who played Leia in the Star Wars franchise had a three-month affair with her co-star, Harrison Ford, who played Hans Solo.

"It was so intense," Fisher admitted, discussing her affair with Ford, who was then married to Mary Marquardt, with whom he had two kids. The affair began when they were filming the first Star Wars in 1976.

"It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend," she said.

Fisher discusses all this and more in her new memoir, The Princess Diarist. The actress writes in her book that she experienced self-doubt during this tumultuous affair.

"I looked over at Harrison. A hero's face - a few strands of hair fell over his noble, slightly furrowed brow," she writes in the book. "How could you ask such a shining specimen of a man to be satisfied with the likes of me?"

While the affair ended after they were done filming, she still seems to be positive about the experience.

"I was so inexperienced, but I trusted something about him," she said. "He was kind."

The Princess Diarist reveals Fisher's thoughts and some new behind-the-scenes tidbits from her experience filming Star Wars. The actress took inspiration from her recently discovered journals from her youth, explaining just how she was feeling at the time.

Ford was apparently given a draft of Fisher's book, which featured the affair revelation, but he has not publicly commented at this time. The actors reunited in supporting roles to film the new Star Wars film, The Force Awakens.

The Princess Diarist is set for release on Nov. 22.
