American Idol season 12 finalists Kree Harrison and Candice Glover battled it out through three songs on Wednesday night.

For the first song, show creator Simon Fuller chose the tune selection. Taking the stage first, Kree, the Texas native, performed a cover of Sarah McLachlan's emotional Angel. Quickly following her performance Candice had her shot at performing Chasing Pavements by British pop songstress Adele.

Judges Randy Jackson and Mariah Carey weighed in on the first round, dubbing Candice as the better performer. According to the judges, Candice took the opportunity to add her own touch to her rendition of Chasing Pavements, making more of the song.

However, both judges wanted to point out the two competitors were both at the top of their craft and performed well all season.

"I'm so proud to have been part of this season. This talent is of a level that is mind-boggling," stated Carey.

Before the next round of performances, Carly Rae Jepsen performed Take a Picture, the result of the Coca Cola Perfect Harmony collaboration.

For round two the American Idol hopefuls performed the single that they would release if they won. For Kree this was "All Cried Out" while Candice went with "I Am Beutifull"

The judges rose to their feet for both songs, and Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj weighted in on the singles.

""I love her composure and this song made her reach down in her gut more than she ever has before," Minaj said of Kree's performance.

For the last round, Kree and Candice picked their favorite performance of the season and gave and encore. Kree chose "Up to the Mountain" which she had previously performed in Las Vegas.

"That right there is a winning kind of performance...that is your best performance of the night," said Jackson.

Lastly, Candice made her way back to the stage for a performance of "I Who Have Nothing," which she previously performed during Top 10 week.

"It's going to be very, very difficult for America tonight," Carey said of the final voting. Polls open following the end of the episode.
