This Thursday is Thanksgiving, the holiday each year where we honor tradition and family togetherness by sitting down to big dinners and being thankful for the things we have in our lives.

Because the day is a holiday, several businesses, offices, and other places may have altered hours as a result. Below is a list of expected hours for various places:

OPEN:

National Parks: This varies by location, with some potentially being open on the holiday, but others are expected to be closed. For example, Grand Canyon National Park's South Rim will be open, as it is every day of the year, but the North Rim is closed. Visit your specific park's website to learn what their operating hours may be.

Private Businesses: Check with local establishments to see what hours they may have. Some may be closed entirely, operate on a normal schedule, or may have reduced hours.

Restaurants: Some chain restaurants will be closed, while others will operate with either normal or reduced hours. Ones that may be open include Applebee's, Bob Evans, Buca Di Beppo and Cracker Barrel, but hours may vary at individual locations.

Retail Stores: Some establishments will be open with Thanksgiving hours during the day, like pharmacies, dollar stores, Kmart and grocery stores. Major retail establishments like Walmart, Target, Kohl's and Macy's are going to remain closed until later at night, when they open for Black Friday sales. See when each individual place is opening here.

Transportation Services: While transportation services should be open, the levels of service may be altered to reflect a holiday schedule. Check locally, but some of the more major transit services across the U.S. have the following schedules:
