The past few seasons of the highly popular police crime drama television series, Criminal Minds, contained some nasty surprises as fans had to bid farewell to one of its main characters. The show's latest season, seems to be doing much of the same, as it was already revealed that Criminal Minds Season 12 will be featuring the departure of Thomas Gibson's character, Aaron Hotchner.

Now, new concerns amongst fans are coming to light as they are now fearing the possibility that another character may be leaving soon as well. One of the series' main characters, Dr. Spencer Reid, played by Mathew Gray Gubler, is now rumored to be also in danger of being killed off or removed from the show.

Like Gibson's characters, Gubler has been a part of the show ever since its very first episode. Reports are claiming that he may be following in the footsteps of his former cast members soon. Majority of the rumor reports have cited a particular title of one of the show's upcoming episodes, an episode titled "Spencer," as one of the main evidence for their claims.

The last main cast member that was removed from the show was Shemar Moore's Derek Morgan. Like both Gibson and Gubler, Moore was part of the show since the beginning.

His character however went through such a traumatic experience that the only conclusion was to remove Morgan from the main storyline. Morgan's troubles started on one particular episode, titled "Morgan." Given the pattern, it would be understandable that some fans are starting to get paranoid and jump into conclusions.

Fortunately, following the rapid spread of Reid's rumored departure, the show's own co-executive producer, Harry Bring, replied to a comment on Twitter and reassured fans that this was not the case.

Given the reassurance from one of the show's producers, it might be safe to say that there might be more in store for the character. For the time being, it will be very unlikely for the show to remove one of its main casts, seeing as that Gibon's exit may already be enough of a traumatic experience for both the producers and its fans.
