Fans have known for a while that Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) won't make it to the present-day timeframe on This Is Us after his daughter Kate (Chrissy Metz) revealed he was dead, and now, the details about what led to his demise may finally be revealed in the show's upcoming episodes.

At the TCA conference, show creator Dan Fogelman revealed that fans will start to learn small details between the how, where and when of Jack's sure to be heartbreaking on-screen demise will occur.

"Next week's episode is a big episode," he said when asked about the death.

In addition, according to TV Guide, a preview clip before the panel for the show also featured a montage of Jack's funeral scene-meaning there will be some reflection on what happened, though the full story will play out over a number of episodes and even seasons-something that is remarkably easier now that the show has officially been picked up for two more seasons.

Of course, Jack's death is far from the only story that still needs to be told, and Fogelman assures that he has everything mapped out already and there's plenty to tell about the entire Pearson family.

"We have a lot," he said. "Out theme, something we play with, is, 'Life will surprise you a lot.' I wrote out the history of this family."

He admitted there also aren't any big surprises when it comes to the story elements themselves, but that there will be some small revelations over time which lead to those moments that will keep viewers hooked as the series continues.

"We'll never run out of stories. We have a plan. We know where this series is going and we're going to keep people on their toes. We feel really confident," he said.

But for now, viewers will have to prepare themselves to learn more about Jack's death, and though things will be revealed over time and not all at once, there is something to take away from the show's upcoming next episode.

"Next week is a big week. There's a 'before' and 'after' to this family-before Jack and after," Fogelman said.

This Is Us airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on NBC.
