The Beaches Lifetime remake is set to premiere tonight, and here's how you can watch it online.

The contemporary remake of Beaches stars Idina Menzel and Nia Long as lifelong friends who go through the wringer of life, drifting in and out of each other's lives.

"In this contemporary remake, Beaches follows the serendipitous meeting of two young girls on the Venice Boardwalk, who, though worlds apart in lifestyle, embark on unexpected and lifelong friendship," says Lifetime. "CC (Menzel) is an aspiring singer trying to make it in Los Angeles until she is discovered by a director who gives her her first big shot. Hillary (Long) is the daughter of a prominent civil rights lawyer who struggles to find her own destiny. Their friendship-even with its ups and downs-sustains them for decades."

The original Beaches has long been a cult film, especially for young women. Starring Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey, the film has become well known in pop culture especially for its soundtrack, which includes Midler's seminal recording of "Wind Beneath My Wings". The song went on to win the Grammy for Record of the Year and Song of the Year and hit no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The remake of Beaches premieres tonight (Saturday, Jan. 21) at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Lifetime. This will be followed immediately at 10 p.m. ET/PT by Beaches: The After Party, a one-hour special hosted by The View co-host Sara Haines, who sits down with Menzel and Long to discuss behind-the-scenes details about the film.

The film will then rerun at 11 p.m. ET/PT if you missed it the first time.
