There are rumors floating around that actress Lindsay Lohan may have converted to Islam.

Lohan has deleted all of her Instagram posts and her bio now simply states the Arabic phrase "Alaikum salam," which translates to "Peace be unto you." This has prompted some to speculate that she may be converting to the Islamic faith.

The Mean Girls star's interest in Islam has been growing over the past few years. She was spotted carrying the Quran in New York City in 2015 and was interviewed about it while meeting with Syrian refugees this past October, reports Us Weekly.

"In America I was going through a lot with past things that had happened to me over a 10-year span, and my very close friends who have been there for me a lot in London are Saudi, and they gave me [the] Quran and I brought it to New York because I was learning, and it opened doors for me to experience spiritually, to find another true meaning," Lohan said, while wearing a headscarf.

So is Lohan's new social media message a sign that she has converted to Islam? The star's mother, Dina Lohan, spoke with Gossip Cop and said that she is just taking a social media break. Another source told the site directly, "She has not converted [to Islam]."

Lindsay has mostly been away from Hollywood over the past few years outside of the occasional TV guest spot. However, she is currently trying to make Mean Girls 2 happen, saying in a recent interview, "I have been trying so hard to do a 'Mean Girls 2.' It is not in my hands," "I know that [writer] Tina Fey and [producer] Lorne Michaels and all of Paramount are very busy... I will keep forcing it and pushing it on them until we do it."
