Open Road Films along with its South Korean and Canadian partners have now released a brand new teaser trailer for their upcoming animated film, "Spark: A Space Tail." The new animated film features anthropomorphic animal characters set in a futuristic space-themed world.

It's also interesting to note that the movie itself features an all-star voice cast that includes Jace Norman, Susan Sarandon, Hillary Swank, Jessica Biel, and Patrick Stewart. "Spark: A Space Tail" is also, in fact, Swank's first voice acting gig in an animated film.

The newly released trailer, via Yahoo Movies, basically shows the entire synopsis for "Spark: A Space Tail." The lead character Spark, voiced by Jace Norman, is an abandoned teen living on a barren planet with his friends Vix and Chunk. The video also shows that thirteen years prior, the planet was actually destroyed by a galactic warlord called General Zhong.

Spark is then revealed to be a part of the royal family on the destroyed planet called Planet Beta. Having learned that Zhong is now planning to wipe out other worlds in their galaxy, Spark rallies all of his world's allies to stop Zhong and his battleship called the Kraken. Those who are familiar with the Chinese Monkey King lore will probably notice some similarities between the lead character and the Monkey King, which is likely intentional.

Aside from releasing the new trailer, a brand new poster has also been released showing Spark and the rest of the characters. The animated action comedy film is directed by Aaron Woodley, who also voices the character, Floyd. It is produced by Harry Linden, Wookyung Jung, Youngki Lee, and Jun Zheng. "Spark: A Space Tail" is set to be released on April 14.

A report from Movie Web reveals that the particular release window will also see the premiere of this year's big blockbuster movie, "The Fate of the Furious." It has yet to be seen if this would affect the overall viewership of "Spark: A Space Tail," but in the meantime check out the trailer below.
