Phillip Seymour Hoffman checked himself into a 10 day stay at a rehab facility following a recent drug addiction, reports state.

Hoffman states that, after being clean and sober for the last 23 years, he turned to prescription drugs nearly a year ago, according to TMZ. The Capote star then escalated to heroine. After a week of snorting the drug, Hoffman realized he needed to seek help.

"He recognized it and took care of it," said a source, according to E!. "He's doing well and back to work."

The 45-year-old checked into a facility on the East Coast to complete a detox. Hoffman, who is due to star in the upcoming Hunger Games: Catching Fire, reportedly checked out of the treatment center on Friday, states The Celebrity Café.

Currently back at work on a film in Europe, Hoffman credits and thanks "a great group of friends and family" for supporting and helping him through a difficult time, reports TMZ.

Hoffman received the Academy Award for Best Actor after his portrayal of Truman Capote in the 2005 film Capote. Recently the father of three has been seen in The Idea of March and Moneyball. In addition to Catching Fire, Hoffman's upcoming works also include A Most Wanted Man and God's Pocket.
