Many fans were probably on the edge in the last episode of "Criminal Minds" Season 12 titled "Alpha Male." This is all due to the current predicament that Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) is facing. However, it seems like the worst has yet to come for the character.

Showrunner Erica Messer briefly teased the fans during her talk with TV Line that Reid is not out of the woods yet. And seems like there are more exciting moments that fans should look forward to in "Criminal Minds" Season 12 Episode 16 "Assistance Is Futile." One in particular that viewers should get excited about is Reid's life inside prison.

"There are a lot of internal and external factors that are yet to come in that storyline, so hang on tight," Messer said. While this may be the case, some fans are still on the edge with the Reid arc in "Criminal Minds" Season 12. But Messer is unfazed by this, in fact, she even relishes the viewers' reception with the new storyline.

The showrunner continued to express her enjoyment on the interview, revealing that the production is having "such fun" with this new storyline. Further noting that this has never been done before in "Criminal Minds" Season 12 - or even in the past seasons. "And to take our most vulnerable hero and put him in the last place you'd ever want him to be has I think got people talking, which is great. We want that." she added.

Meanwhile, the promo for "Criminal Minds" Season 12 Episode 16 "Assistance Is Futile" has been released on YouTube. And as what some might have expected, seems like Reid will likely receive his prison initiation. But this time, unfortunately, Calvin Shaw (Harold Perrineau) is not there to save him from the prison gang.

So what will exactly happen to Reid? Fans would have to find out in "Criminal Minds" Season 12 Episode 16, which is scheduled to air on Wednesday, March 15, on CBS.
