Singer Katy Perry reportedly got caught in the middle of the recent break-up of former Twilight couple Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.

British publication Now reported Monday that Stewart made an angry call to Perry, weeks ahead of the couple's split.

Though Stewart and Perry were due to cross paths at the May 6 MET Ball, the actress called the singer before then to confront her directly about her relationship with Pattinson.

"Kristen called Katy to ask her straight out," a source told the magazine. "Katy was stunned and things got awkward. She said there was no way she was messing with Rob, but Kristen didn't believe her. Katy got off the phone as soon as she could."

The couple went out to eat in New York City the day after the Met Ball, and were said to have appeared unsettled after the alleged phone call. Pattinson reportedly spent their dinner texting on his phone, though his contact was not identified in the magazine.

"Kristen went nuts then burst into tears," said the Now source.

InTouch Weekly also reported that Stewart is upset in regards to Perry and Pattinson's friendship. She does not like that they two have been spending so much time together. The actress reportedly suspected ulterior motives from the singer. A source suggested that Perry is "only friends with Kristen for Rob."

"[Kristen] feels hurt," the source told the magazine. "She feels betrayed."

The trio were seen together at April's Coachella music festival. The InTouch source also claimed that she is looking into dating Pattinson, as they are both now unattached.

"The timing was never right [for Rob and Katy]," the source continued. "Katy's the kind of girl who goes after what she wants until she gets it."
