"The Mindy Project" has finally come to its end after six seasons. The comedy series has reached its natural conclusion according to the executive producer.

Mindy Kaling, lead star and creator of "The Mindy Project" gave humor to the show's farewell season saying that there are no more actors in Hollywood left to date. "I mean this half-jokingly, but at a certain point, it was like, I think she's dated every man in Manhattan. Sex and the City lasted for, what, six seasons with 10 episodes each," she said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. She added that there has been no show about a woman trying to find love in New York City that has lasted so long.

Five years ago, "The Mindy Project" was launched on Fox Channel. Kaling and her co-workers think that they have gone through so much during all those years. They believed that the show has simply reached its natural ending.

"The Mindy Project" started when Kaling was still single. Now, she is married, has her own kid and has a stepdaughter. A few more episodes and the show can wind down on its own.

Last season, fans of "The Mindy Project" saw Kaling marrying her boyfriend Ben (Bryan Greenberg). Now, the final season will look into what the lead star really wants in her life. "The final season is the final time -- it's the best time -- to confront what that reality is for her," the 37-year-old star said.

"The Mindy Project" was released by Fox and was later canceled. It was picked up by Hulu in 2015. "It has been an honor and a joy to work with Mindy and the entire creative team," Craig Erwich, Hulu's head of content said in a report by Fox News.
