David Foster and Katharine McPhee are continuing to deny romance rumors.
Although the 68-year-old music producer and the 33-year-old American Idol alumna turned actress have been caught together numerous times throughout the past several months, McPhee recently shot down rumors regarding a romantic relationship with Foster during an interview with Health magazine for their December 2017 issue.
“We’re very close friends, and we’ve been friends for a long time,” McPhee explained. “I’m really, really fond of him, and I think he’s an incredible person. I’ve known him since I was 21 years old, you know? He produced my first single. So he’s been really good to me. People can say whatever they want.”
Foster and McPhee first sparked reports of a romance back in May when they were seen enjoying what appeared to be a dinner date at Nobu restaurant in Malibu, California. Then, in September, the rumored couple added fuel to the rumors when they began spending much more time together.
In just the past week, Foster and McPhee have been spotted publicly with one another on two separate occasions. As fans may have seen, Foster and McPhee first attended a basketball game in Los Angeles on Sunday, Nov. 5, before having dinner together at Craig’s restaurant in West Hollywood the following night.
Still, McPhee insists she and Foster are nothing more than close friends.
“I’m pretty single,” McPhee explained. “I had a relationship with my lead actor on my show [Elyes Gabel] that was almost two years. I still am crazy about him, and we have a really great working relationship. It’s definitely not the easiest thing to get over someone you see every day! It’s still an adjustment. But I haven’t had anything super serious since.”
"Katherine and I have known each other since Idol, since she was twenty-one, and we’ve worked together and you know she’s super successful and people can just be friends you know?" he said.
Prior to being linked to McPhee, Foster was married for four years to Yolanda Hadid, formerly of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
