The first trailer for Marvel's highly anticipated superhero flick, Avengers: Infinity War, arrived on Wednesday, Nov. 29, and has already started breaking records.

Most Viewed Trailer In 24 Hours

The debut look of the upcoming Anthony and Joe Russo-directed film become the most viewed trailer of all time.

Marvel announced the news on Twitter on Thursday, Nov. 30, and thanked the fans for being "the best fans in the universe." The tweet said that the first trailer for the upcoming superhero mash-up amassed 230 million views in the first 24 hours across all social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.

The Avengers: Infinity War trailer amassed 33 million more views than Stephen King's IT, which set a new record earlier this year with 197 million views in the first 24 hours; an incredible achievement for a horror movie.

J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens held the title for nearly two years with 88 million views until Beauty and the Beast's second trailer came along. The live-action Disney musical garnered 91.8 million views but was later beaten by the first trailer of The Fate of the Furious, which was viewed 139 million times.

Nowadays, these records are easily broken whenever a new blockbuster film kicks off its marketing campaign. Social media is also growing rapidly and allowing users to view more content across a number of platforms. Therefore, it's only a matter of time until a new trailer comes along and trumps Avengers: Infinity War to set a new record.

What To Expect?

In Avengers: Infinity War, the Mad Titan Thanos (Josh Brolin) comes to Earth in order to acquire the immensely powerful Infinity Stones with the help of other members of the Black Order. Thanos seeks to combine the six gems and use them to complete the Infinity Gauntlet; a tool that will make him the most powerful being in existence.

However, the tyrannical supervillain's plans may be thwarted when Marvel's superheroes come together to save the universe. The trailer gave fans a sneak peek of the epic showdown between Thanos and Earth's mightiest heroes.

The team to take down Thanos includes Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and the Guardians of the Galaxy (Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Zoe Saldana and Bradley Cooper).

The upcoming blockbuster will serve as a conclusion to 10 years of Marvel moviemaking magic that seeks to alter the landscape of Marvel's Cinematic Universe (MCU).
