Mindy Kaling has given birth to a bouncing baby girl.

The former The Office and The Mindy Project star is now a mom. The 39-year-old welcomed her first child, Katherine Kaling, last week, Dec. 15.

Baby Kaling

News about the actress' pregnancy surfaced back in July. A month later, she went public and confirmed that she is indeed pregnant. However, she chose not to disclose the identity of her baby's father.

In October, the screenwriter and memoirist went on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and revealed that she was expecting a baby girl.

During the same appearance, Kaling talked about how her A Wrinkle in Time co-star, Oprah Winfrey, was basically the first to confirm the news of her pregnancy.

"At first it was like, 'OK, if anyone was going to announce big news about your private life, Oprah Winfrey is the person,'" she told DeGeneres. "You can't complain that much about it. You also can't be like, 'Hey, Oprah, zip it.' Because she's like a religious figure."

Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon heard about the news while on the set of their upcoming movie. Kaling added that Winfrey, in particular, was very excited for her.

Next Big Step

In another interview, Kaling revealed how she feels about this big milestone in her personal life. She told Today that she is really excited to meet her daughter, Katherine.

"It's so unknown to me," the actress admitted. Kaling further explained that she has control over her career and other aspects of her life, but becoming someone's mom is an uncharted territory.

In addition, as early as now, Kaling knew what kind of mom she is going to be to her daughter, Katherine. The actress told the interviewer that she plans to be a cool mom, someone who will be open-minded and supportive.

A Year Of Good News

Kaling must be having the best time in terms of her personal life and her career. After she has recovered from giving birth to her first child, the actress is expected to go back to work and promote A Wrinkle in Time, a fantasy movie that follows three kids who go on an adventure to find a missing scientist. The movie was directed by Ava DuVernay.

She also will star in Oceans 8, the all-female version of the popular heist movie series. It also stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson, Dakota Fanning, Olivia Munn, and Helena Bonham-Carter. Its exciting first trailer was released this week.
