Meghan Markle's engagement and impending wedding to Prince Harry is becoming one of the most talked about topics as the year 2017 comes to an end. The former Suits actress engagement to the Prince has sent her into to the top of every media outlets priority list.

In addition to announcing the date of the couple's wedding ceremony to sketches of her dress floating across the internet, Markle attending Christmas lunch with the Queen and other relatives is a huge step in Markle's relationship with the royal family.

However, new reports state that a certain royal may have left a bad impression with Markle.

Controversial Kent

Princess Michael of Kent, who was also in attendance at the lunch, was seen wearing a racist brooch. The brooch was a tinged blackamoor pin that many believe stands for "racial conquest." This was definitely done in poor taste as Markle is biracial; her father is Caucasian and her mother is African-American. While Markle has not given a comment on the brooch, media sites have already condemned Princess Kent and branded her a racist.

The princess has been known to push the boundaries in racism in the past.

Reportedly back in 2004 while dining in New York City, the Princess told several African-American diners to "go back to the colonies." The Princess has denied making this comment while even stating that she wanted to be part-African.

"I even pretended years ago to be an African, a half-caste African, but because of my light eyes I did not get away with it, but I dyed my hair black. I traveled on African buses. I wanted to be a writer. I had this adventure with these absolutely adorable, special people and to call me racist: it's a knife through the heart because I really love these people," she commented.

The Princess has also made distasteful comments about the royal family and the late Princess Diana, referring to her as "uneducated, bitter, and nasty."

Princess Michael, also dubbed "Princess Pushy," has issued an apology for wearing the brooch and claimed it was a gift that she has worn many times before.

Born Marie Christine, the Princess is married to Queen's first cousin, Prince Michael of Kent, who is the grandson of King George V. Much like the scandal involving the marriage of Wallis Simpson and Edward VII, the prince had to abdicate his title to marry the Princess, because she was divorcee.
