Winterfell is doomed, if the recent fire at the Winterfell set in Moneyglass, Northern Ireland is any indication of the kingdom's fate in Game of Thrones Season 8.

Fiery spoiler for 'Game of Thrones' Season 8

Firefighters arrived at the set in Toome on Wednesday following reports of a huge fire in the area. A spokesperson confirmed that someone called at 7:24 p.m. about a fire on the Rougery Road Toomebridge, Magherafelt.

Responders arrived at the scene, including two fire appliances from Magherafelt Fire Station, but they were on standby. No action was taken since the fire was reportedly dealt with on site.

A video of the said fire at the Winterfell set in Northern Ireland has made the rounds online. Facebook user Steven McAuley shared the video, which, even taken from a distance, shows the familiar arches of the Stark family's castle up in flames.

According to sources, the fire was intentional as It was done for a huge battle scene in Game of Thrones Season 8 that involved 400 to 500 extras.

The fire coincides with previous reports of smoke coming from the Toome set in the last few days. There were also several armed extras seen on the set. However, the mystery is who caused the fire and why?

Game of Thrones Season 8 theories

It is anyone's guess who is responsible for the destruction of Winterfell, although, given how Season 7 ended, the first person that comes to mind is the Night King.

To recap, the Season 7 finale saw the Night King and his army of White Walkers march toward the North after the zombie Viserion burned down the Wall. It would only be a matter of time before they reach the North's first line of defense: Winterfell. Viserion could be responsible for the fire. His fire may be blue when it comes from his mouth but the flames eventually turn red when it cools down.

Another possible theory involves Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and her two dragons. However, why she would want to burn down Winterfell is anyone's guess. Perhaps she eventually becomes the "Mad Queen" in Game of Thrones Season 8 as fans' suspect.

Then, there is also Cersei Lannister. Fans of the HBO series are now familiar with her penchant for wildfire. She burned down half of King's Landing with wildfire in Season 6.

Regardless of whoever is behind the fire, one thing is certain and that is Winterfell's dim fate in Game of Thrones Season 8.
