Rising star Tiffany Haddish has never been one to follow the crowd. The actress-comedian proves her worth yet again at the Oscars.

Making A Statement

Girls Trip star Haddish made a couple pretty courageous fashion choices on the biggest night of the showbiz calendar. First and foremost, she swapped her Jimmy Choo stilettos for super comfy Ugg slippers to present an award.

Haddish was presenting alongside fellow comedian and actress Maya Rudolph who took off her heels to go barefoot. The two gave out the awards for Best Documentary Short Subject and Best Live Action Short Film.

Breakout star Haddish is having a massive year following the release of the hit comedy movie, in which she stole the show. She put on a suede and shearling style called the Coquette for a funny skit with Rudolph on the night.

Haddish also made waves for dusting off her by-now iconic white Alexander McQueen for the 2018 Oscars, her third time wearing it in public, which is unheard of in Hollywood.

Haddish previously wore the form-fitting gown while hosting Saturday Night Live in November of last year as well as to the Girls Trip premiere back then. It makes sense that the actress would want to get as much use out of the dress as possible, considering it reportedly cost a whopping $4,000.

Also, Haddish previously vowed to wear the dress to her grave and even took aim at critics during her opening SNL monologue.

"I feel like I should be able to wear what I want, when I want, however many times I want - as long as I Febreez it," Haddish joked at the time.

A Personal Choice

Haddish didn't wear it the entire evening, however, choosing to walk the red carpet in a traditional Eritrean dress as a tribute to the heritage of her late father who was from Eritrea.

The black, gold, and white dress and shawl inspired by Tsihaye Haddish, who died in 2017, caused quite a stir on the red carpet.

"He said one day I would end up here and if I ever ended up at the Oscars to honor my people so I'm honoring my fellow Eritreans," Haddish explained to reporters on the night.

The Girls Trip star felt unsure about what to wear to the 90th Academy Awards up until three days before Sunday. She did have her handbag ready to go, however.

"The one thing I have to have in my purse on Oscar Sunday is some breath mints because I'm definitely going to be eating," Haddish told PEOPLE.

Haddish misplaced her Fendi makeup bag at the Essence Black Women event last Thursday but assured her social media followers of its safe return.
