Verne Troyer was rushed to the hospital on Monday night after cops received a call about a reported poisoning. A friend called the police and said the actor was suicidal.

Drunk And Suicidal

Cops were called to Troyer's home at around 7:30 p.m. after a friend reported the actor was being extremely upset, drunk, and suicidal. It did not take long for the paramedics and the cops to arrive at Troyer's residence.

Troyer was transported to the hospital for possible alcohol poisoning and placed under 72 hours evaluation. The 49-year-old comedian was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department, who also responded to the call, revealed that they rushed to the actor's North Hollywood home at around 8:34 p.m. Troyer's identity was kept a secret due to privacy laws. Authorities also did not reveal the nature of the actor's alleged poisoning.

Thankfully, the Austin Powers actor is okay. He is currently recuperating, according to Troyer's team, who sent an update on the actor's health on his Instagram. The team also asked that fans keep Troyer in their thoughts and prayers.

"He's getting the best care possible and is resting comfortably. Appreciate the support from family, friends, and fans around the world. We will keep you updated here," reads the message.

Reactions

Messages of well wishes poured out following news about Troyer's hospitalization on Monday. Fans responded to his Instagram post and wished for him to get better soon.

"Hang in there Verne," one fan wrote and another said, "Sending love and well wishes."

"You are fabulous, handsome, and deeply admired. Happy thoughts, good vibes, prayers, etc to you. I wish you success in your battle against demons. Please know, you (all of us) are stronger than you know. The fact that you reached out for help shows only your strength!!!" another fan commented.

The Love Guru actor has been battling alcoholism for the past year. This is not the first time that he was hospitalized for it. Last year in April, he was also admitted to the hospital for alcohol addiction, which eventually prompted him to enter rehab for treatment. He admitted that he has been battling the addiction in a statement sent to People.

"As you know, I've battled alcohol addiction in the past and while it's not always been an easy fight, I'm willing to continue my fight day by day," he said, revealing at the time that he has been receiving treatment and voluntarily checking into a treatment center.

Troyer also had a scary seizure in March 2015 during a fan meet and greet in Texas. He was hospitalized to undergo some tests, but thankfully, the results came back normal.
