The Big Bang Theory Season 11 will end with a bang after the team convinced Mark Hamill to join the cast for the finale.

Fans of the CBS series are in for a treat as Hamill, known for being the iconic Luke Skywalker in the mammoth film Star Wars, joins the geeks of The Big Bang Theory, and they could expect nothing short of entertaining content when the actor finally meets the fanboys of the show. The good news is certainly an addition to the highly anticipated wedding of Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik).

But of all the episodes that had been aired, why only now did the team decide to bring Hamill? Well, showrunner Steve Holland and the producers believed the wedding theme of the finale would be the perfect opportunity to request for the actor's cameo.

"I'm a huge, lifelong Star Wars fan, and we started talking about fun guest-stars and were making our dream list — and Mark was at the top of it," Holland explained.

No Script Yet

There was still no working script at the time for The Big Bang Theory Season 11 finale, as it is known that the show refrained from doing advanced storyline to maintain episodes' freshness, so basically no storyline for Hamill was then made. But the team, Holland narrated, sent an invitation to the Star Wars star via a phone call.

The Big Bang Theory team then only had some thoughts on what will transpire on the season finale and revealed this to Hamill. They tried to walk him through what they had in their minds of his cameo.

As much as he was a big star, Hamill wasn't at all a diva and immediately said yes to a cameo even without a script. However, it wasn't ultimately a walk in the park to get the 66-year-old onboard the finale.

Holland shared that Hamill initially felt nervous about his commitment to The Big Bang Theory because there was still no script. However, the actor and the team talked about it personally and even had a good time when they met.

"We had a good time together, and he luckily decided to trust us and take a leap of faith. He signed on without seeing word one," Holland said.

When the shooting day finally came, Hamill was so professional and was willing to try everything the team asked him to perform. He was game with anything and even suggested some ideas. Furthermore, Holland said the voice actor was uber-nice to everyone and even obliged to requests of selfies.
