Katharine McPhee shows off her massive engagement ring from fiancé David Foster. She also takes the opportunity to mourn the passing of her late father.

Smiling Through The Tears

The 34-year-old singer and actress took to Instagram Saturday to share a bittersweet message with followers.

"I'm ready to share with all of you what has been my sunshine amongst this painful loss," she wrote.

McPhee included a photo of herself looking fresh-faced while holding up her emerald-cut sparkler for the camera. The ring symbolizes her final memories with dad Daniel, who passed away last week.

"My dad was so happy for me. My ring was the last thing I showed my dad before he passed and makes me smile when I look at this as a reminder of our last conversation," she gushed in the post.

The American Idol alum thanked everybody for standing by her during a difficult time. She also advised those reading that she and her soon-to-be husband are looking to the future, focusing on life rather than death, and on their shared love.

Foster, 68 got down on one knee during a romantic European vacation earlier this month. This will be his fifth marriage overall, and McPhee's second. She announced the death of her father on Monday.

"I can't believe I'm even writing this. But it is with heavy heart that I share that my sweet sweet Papa left this earth yesterday morning. We as a family are completely heartbroken and devastated," she wrote at the time.

It Just Works

McPhee and Foster were first romantically linked back in May 2017 when they were spotted on a romantic dinner date. They didn't confirm their relationship until nearly a year later at the Met Gala.

Foster's ex-wife, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Hadid, has since reportedly commented that she always knew there was something going on between the two, who met while filming American Idol when McPhee was a contestant.

The happy couple is reportedly over the moon about their engagement, and they aren't letting the haters get to them. McPhee told trolls on social media to focus on more important things, such as the upcoming midterm elections, rather than the age gap between her and her beau.

David's daughter, Amy Foster, also recently told the press that when she sees the two of them together it just works because it's true love.

Waitress Broadway star McPhee even gave her man a shout-out while performing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" at a benefit in Laguna Beach, California this weekend.
