It is the end of an era as longtime Real Housewives of New York City star Carole Radziwill bows out. The reality star is saying goodbye to the show after six seasons.

Taking A Step Back

The series is currently in its 10th season. Radziwill confirmed in a statement to the press that she will not return to the show once it wraps up, and go back to what she loves.

"After six seasons on Bravo's RHONYC, I have decided to return to what I do best - journalism and producing. I am sure this does not come as a surprise to any of the viewers, all of whom have been supportive, encouraging, and kind," she explained.

The reality star went on to admit that her interest in the ongoing series has declined over the years and advised that she wishes to focus her talents elsewhere as a result. She also hinted at possible issues behind-the-scenes.

"I have worked with amazing producers, made great friends, and I'm thrilled to leave frenemies behind. I will remember this entire experience with delight, humor, and a veracious accuracy," her statement concluded.

Finding Her Place

Radziwill joined the cast of the hit show all the way back in Season 5 alongside Heather Thomson and Aviva Drescher in 2012. She built up a rapport with SkinnyGirl founder Bethenny Frankel. Their friendship blossomed in season 8, but the two have had their difficulties in the intervening years.

She has been a fan favorite ever since, whether sharing her professional life as a journalist and best-selling author or getting back into the dating game following the death of her late husband Anthony Radziwill.

This current season has been an important one for the writer too. It is an ideal sign-off point as it has seen Radziwill complete the New York City Marathon, as well as penning an insightful essay for Cosmopolitan.

Just before her shock announcement, Radziwill took to her Instagram page to shoot fans a cryptic message that hinted at her departure.

"Didn't change, just learned," she wrote.

The Bethenny Show

Radzwill joined RHONY  amid a major shakeup. Original cast members Frankel, Jill Zarin, and Alex McCord have all exited from the reality show, along with Kelly Killoren Bensimon.

Frankel left to focus on her relationship with then-husband Jason Hoppy and their daughter Bryn, as well as her own talk show. She returned in Season 7 and hit it off immediately with Radziwill. The fiery journalist has already proven herself opposite critics such as Drescher and Luann de Lesseps.

However, Season 10 has seen a major fallout between the two ladies, although Radziwill remains on good terms with the rest of the cast. Her statement seems to hint at ongoing issues and according to sources, it is Frankel's death-grip on RHONY that ultimately sealed it for Radziwill.

Allegedly, Frankel calls the shots to such an extent that other cast members refer to the show as "The Bethenny Show." Radziwill found her camera time cut way back as a result of their falling-out and decided to step away from her "frenemy" as a result.
