Writing a song about your ex is nothing new in the music industry. Artists like Taylor Swift, John Mayer and Justin Bieber have already did it in the past,  but there is one other artist who recently did it now.

It looks like The Weeknd is pouring all of his emotions on a new song he just registered at the ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers). The song is entitled, "Like Selena" according to the website.

Real name, Abel Tesfaye, The Weeknd and Selena Gomez were in a relationship for 10 months. The couple was first linked in January 2017. They remained tight-lipped about their relationship during their official red carpet debut at the 2017 Met Gala.

They later broke it off on October 2017 because Selena briefly reunited with Justin Bieber.

However, while it has been two years since the two called it quits, it looks like there are a few things that the "Starboy" singer wants to get off his chest.

The Weeknd shared a blurry picture on his Instagram account with the caption, "The fall starts tomorrow night."

On his Instagram story, he shared another black-and-white shot with the words, "tomorrow night, we start again."

Not The First Selena Song

The tease comes just months after the Toronto-native noted on social media that he is in "album mode full effect." The upcoming release will follow his 2018 EP, "My Dear Melancholy" and his 2016 album, "Starboy."

Though Tesfaye famously stayed silent about his relationships in interviews, his "My Dear Melancholy" EP dropped just months after his split from the former Disney Channel actress.

The lyrics read, "Guess I was just another pit stop 'til you make up your mind / You just wasted my time."

The Weeknd also implied that he was prepared to donate his kidney to Gomez when she underwent a transplant the same year. In the song, "I almost cut a piece of myself for your life."

According to the The Weeknd, he had been writing a very different kind of album before he and Gomez broke up. He told Time, "Before 'Melancholy'; I had a whole album written which wasn't about melancholy at all because it was a different time in my life. It was very upbeat."

Since the two broke up, The Weeknd reunited and then split and then reunited with his other ex-girlfriend, supermodel Bella Hadid. He previously deactivated his Instagram back in June but briefly returned it to announce his teasers stated above.

Selena Is Back, Too!

The rumors surrounding "Like Selena" came after Selena's return to music. She performed at the 2019 American Music Awards on Nov. 24. Her performance was her first televised performance in two years.

Selena kicked off the show with her famous songs, "Lose You to Love Me" and "Look at Her Now" which are part of her upcoming album after a four-year music hiatus.

In an interview with "New Music Daily with Zane Lowe," Selena explained why it took her four years for her album to reach completion.

"I learned a lot from the last album, and I wanted to take what I've learned and turn it into something even better, and I'm glad I did because this year everything just started pouring out of me."
