Glee star Naya Rivera is so much more than her character Santana Lopez.

The actress will host the Bud Light Music First's 50/50/1, a nationwide event that will feature one concert in each of the 50 states on Aug. 1, and has new music for her fans debuting soon. Speaking to Enstars on Tuesday about her upcoming projects, she gushed about season 5 of Glee, her upcoming single, a possible musical collaboration with her boyfriend, rapper Big Sean, and just how she manages to balance everything going on in her life.

Rivera is in works with Sony Columbia to release a solo album. Talking about the progress made so far, she said an exact release date for her single has not been decided upon but that fans can expect to hear it "very very soon," even saying sooner than late 2013.

"It's really coming together. I'm excited about the music that I've been creating," she said. "I've got a really good single that you should be hearing sometime really really soon. I can't wait for that...I do have a name of the single but I'm gonna save it."

Inspiration for her music comes from a lot of different places, Rivera said. She pulls ideas from life experiences and aspects of her personal life, making the process of song writing a very intimate one. She also writes all her own songs and said she loves doing it.

"I listen to so much music that I think that really really helps. I know I love to write... [and] different things inspire me," she said. "How I'm feeling a certain day can inspire one song and vice versa. I think when your writing music it is an incredibly personal experience and you have to write about what you know."

Describing the sound on her upcoming album, she said the music is "very R&B-pop. Very rhythmic. Very molatic." She added that there will be "a little bit of a '90s flare and a '90s sound to everything."

"I feel like if Santana [Lopez], if she made an album, she might make the same type of music I'm making," the actress added, talking of her TV character.

With a boyfriend in the music industry, we asked if Big Sean has advised her at all on building her music career. Rivera praised the Switch Up singer by calling him her "biggest supporter" aside from her mother and family.

"He's been amazing," Rivera continued. "He has been doing this professionally for a lot longer than I have, so he definitely gives me advice, and I really appreciate him doing that. It is pretty invaluable. He's got a great ear and he's great with lyrics."

"We'll bounce ideas of each other. At the same time, he'll play me songs and ask me what I think."

Does the actress think they would work well together in the recording studio?

"I think so. I definitely think we would make beautiful music together," she said.

Aside from the focus on her singing career, Rivera starts shooting season 5 of Glee in a couple of weeks. However, she will be walking on the set of her TV series somewhat blindly, admitting that she has not been given a script yet or any details about the future of her characters. When asked about the fate of Santana Lopez in the upcoming season, she said, "I don't even know what the first episode is about yet, so I'm learning just as much as you guys are."

Playing a balancing act between her professional and personal life is not something the actress stresses about. She loves what she is doing and is taking in the opportunity to build on her career as much as she can while she is young.

"I don't find it really difficult," she said of balancing things in her life. "I love working. I think whatever you really care about you make time for and I think that being in my early 20s, this is the time to really focus on your career. At the same time, if you get to have a great personal life, then you're just uber blessed. I think that's where I'm at right now."
