When Marvel's Agents of SHIELD finally comes to ABC this fall, fans can expect a story built around intriguing well-crafted characters and a set that does the comic book setting justice.

While creators Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Marurissa Tancharoen have created a world that intertwines with the hit Marvel films such as Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, and of course, The Avengers. However, the program will not rely on the film's superheroes to help the human cast of SHIELD.

"We plan on trying to weave in between the films and try to make them more rewarding on both ends," Jed Whedon said, according to Entertainment Weekly. "In any of these [episodes], you can always ask: 'Why don't they just call Iron Man?' They are aware of each other, but they do have to have their own lives."

Since the superheroes aren't center stage, viewers can expect to see less of the special effects extras that the Marvel flicks provide.

"When fans see this pilot, they'll be pretty astonished by what we pulled off and the challenge is to do it every week," said Marvel's head of TV Jeph Loeb, according to Entertainment Weekly. "The magic of television is that it's about characters, and fortunately that's also what Marvel is also about. We're not built around a cape and a cowl."

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD will make an appearance at next weeks Comic-Con where fans will hopefully be able to hear a bit more news.
