Days after their Comic-Con appearance, the producers of Once Upon a Time made another announcement regarding a key cast member next season.

The role of Robin Hood has been recast after original actor Tom Ellis told producers that he would not be available for season 3. Ellis played Robin Hood in the season 2 episode Lacey.

British actor Sean Maguire has been cast in the role, according to a report Tuesday by TVLine. Maguire will be playing Robin Hood in a recurring arc that will span several episodes.

"Although we love Tom Ellis, unfortunately he wasn't available," Once Upon a Time executive producer Adam Horowitz told TVLine previously. "We remain huge fans of his, but because we have an arc planned for the character, we had to move forward."

Maguire has starred in such TV series as fantasy spoof Kröd Mändoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire and UPN sitcom Eve. The actor has also made guest appearances in several crime-based shows like Criminal Minds, CSI: NY and Cold Case.

Once Upon a Time fans were buzzing about the biggest scoop released from Comic-Con Saturday: the introduction of Ariel, a.k.a. The Little Mermaid for season 3. ABC posted a preview clip on YouTube featuring the red-haired mermaid stealing a fork from Grumpy, the dwarf.

Jennifer Morrison, who plays Emma Swan, addressed what was ahead for her character and the potential for relationships among other characters.

"I'm on anyone's team that's gonna give Emma a boyfriend," Morrison told TVFanatic in a report published Tuesday. She noted that Emma has a special connection with Hook (Colin O'Donoghue), describing him as a kindred spirit for her.

Morrison also said that Emma and Regina's (Lana Parrilla) relationship will be civil while they try to bring Henry (Jared Gilmore) back from Neverland.

Once Upon a Time returns for season 3 on Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
