With a majority of the world giving the nod to their laptops and smartphones over a TV, it's fairly easy to see how Netflix's House of Cards is excelling amongst a mainstream audience.

The highly successful program is up for a whopping nine Emmy nominations, which includes actor Kevin Spacey (Francis Underwood) for outstanding lead dramatic actor, and co-star, Robin Wright (Claire Underwood), for outstanding actress in a drama. To top it off, the web mainstay, as a whole, is competing to be the best drama series.

President of Creative Strategies, Inc., Tim Bajarin, told Los Angeles Times that whether or not Netflix actually lands any awards at the Emmys will have no bearing on its future success.

"Regardless of whether 'House of Cards' or 'Arrested Development' actually win any Emmys, Netflix has already become a winner at this year's show by nature of this giant endorsement of its labors and vindication that its bet on creating original programming panned out," he said.

Bajarin also feels that House of Cards will ultimately change the way viewers approach scripted content over the long haul.

"This nod from Hollywood allows Netflix to play with the big guns in the cable world and, more importantly, cements its position as the industry leader in providing OTA (over the air) services that will eventually change the way most of us receive our TV and video content in the future," he added.

Although no launch date has officially been announced, Netflix's House of Cards is slated to launch its season 2 on the Internet at some point in early 2014. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest information.
