St. Patrick's Day is here, which means people are getting ready to celebrate.

St. Paddy's Day is both one of the biggest hitting-the-town nights of the year in the United States, and also a holiday that is often forgotten about until it is here.

On the one hand, people everywhere get jazzed about a random, holiday-sanctioned evening of getting plastered in a sticky bar while wearing green shirts that say, "Kiss Me, I'm Irish," even if the descriptor does not apply. On the other hand, there are no strict traditions for it when it comes to the day's plans (although many people may have established their own over time.)

This makes St. Patrick's day the PERFECT day to make sitcom episodes based on. There is all the groundwork for debauchery and chaos. There is the flexible room for show-invented traditions. There is ALSO the timely relation to a holiday, which makes it festive and fun! All in all, St. Patrick's Day has led to the creation of a number of ICONIC television show episodes.

Here are some if you are really looking to get in that St. Patrick's Day mood.

1. 30 Rock - Season 6, Episode 12

The St. Patrick's Day episode of 30 Rock is curmudgenal Liz Lemon, played by Tina Fey, in her absolute PRIME! Everyone, namely her ex-boyfriend Dennis, is absolutely obsessed with St. Patrick's Day.

When Dennis shows up at Liz's door, needing to be cared for and claiming he has a new girlfriend, Liz expressly does not believe him. While all of this is happening, she continues to dance around saying, "I love you," to her current boyfriend Criss.

2. The Office- Season 6, Episode 19

The St. Patrick's Day episode of The Office really showed off the heart of Michael Scott. While the new boss of Dunder Mifflin - now Dunder Mifflin Sabre - Jo Bennet, tries to keep everyone working late on St. Patrick's Day, Michael Scott, who is desperate to please the head of the company, finally decides to stick his neck out for the coworkers he loves like family and end the day.

It is one of the show's heartwarming moments when you realize that Scott is really a good and caring boss.

3. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Season 11, Episode 8

Of COURSE there is an iconic It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia episode for St. Patrick's Day. This episode is aptly titled Charlie Catches a LeprechaunAs the title would lead you to believe, a lion's share of the episode consists of Charlie and Mac trying to catch a leprechaun.

It is the perfect kind of hilarious chaos to get you into the St. Patrick's day mood!

4. Community- Season 2, Episode 21

Does this episode actually happen on St. Patrick's Day? Nope! BUT in this Community flashback episode (in which a large percentage of the flashbacks were originally created just FOR this flashback episode) we are given windows into a seemingly epic St. Patrick's Day adventure full of scandal, intrigue, and...unlikely likely unions?

5. The Afterparty - Season 1, Episode 5

Apple TV+'s new hit series The Afterparty references this St. Patrick's Day party - which all of the ensemble cast went to back when in high school - one hundred THOUSAND times. Talk about St. Patrick's Day being a holiday everyone celebrates to varying levels. This exciting party holds many of the backstory answers that the whole trajectory of the show is ultimately based on.

Woohoo St. Patrick's Day!

6. Bob's Burgers - Season 10, Episode 16

On this hilarious episode of Bob's Burgers, Linda and Teddy decide to dye all of the food and drink in the restaurant green. As you can imagine, two realities ensue: Bob is not on board with this, and it does not go quite as Teddy and Linda planed.

7. How I Met Your Mother - Season 3, Episode 12

This episode of How I Met Your Mother is a perfect example of the dichotomy with which people treat St. Patrick's Day. Some choose to stay in. Some choose to go out. Lily and Marshall host a celebratory game night, while Barney drags Ted out for a raucous night on the town.

8. Cheers- Season 11, Episode 19

Of course, it seems that every show set in a bar just has to have their own St. Patrick's Day episode (be it one or more)! One of the most classic is undoubtedly the Cheers episode, "Bar Wars VII: Naked Prey." As you may be able to infer from the title, this episode features a series of pranks and, well, bar wars, that do not go according to plan.

Leave it to a St. Patrick's Day bet to leave everyone naked and singing.

And with that, we hope you have a very lucky day, and find yourselves situated in the good 'ole St. Patrick's Day spirit! Happy St. Paddy's day!
