Miley Cyrus recently admitted that when she needs advice and understanding about living her personal and private life in the spotlight, she turns to pop singer Britney Spears.

Talking to The Huffington Post UK, the We Can't Stop singer said she and Spears, 31, bond over being subject to constant media scrutiny and attention. Cyrus, a former Disney Channel star in Hannah Montana, started acting at age nine and Spears started her career on the Mickey Mouse Club at 11, according to Daily Mail. Both have had all their actions - wardrobe malfunctions, style makeovers, and relationship highs and lows - reported on by media outlets starting from such a young age that it at times can get difficult to handle, Cyrus explained.

"Everyone goes through a time in their life where they don't want their picture taken every day," Cyrus, 20, said. "She just never had that time where she could say, 'I'm going through something right now and need to shut down.' I also don't have that, so it's good to have that one person in my life who gets it."

Cyrus' engagement to Liam Hemsworth continues to be the subject of speculation, with reports of fighting, couples therapy and cheating. She said Spears can relate to having her career overshadowed by her personal life, which is instead the focus of media reports. Spears has been married twice and ended her engagement to Jason Trawick earlier this year.

When asked whether Spears has been a role model to her, Cyrus said, "I just think it's never blaming you or making you feel like, "You've got all this going for you.' It's like she knows."

"Sometimes life just steps in the middle of your career the way life always does for anyone - it's just ours is a little more 24/7," she added.

Cyrus also said when dealing with the media, it helps to not read reviews.

"People that probably fall off are the people obsessed with Googling themselves and knowing what people are saying," she reportedly told the BBC earlier in the  week. "If I knew what people are saying about me, I'd probably hate myself. I don't look at that kind of stuff."
