The 2022 Grammy Awards may have been successful in some aspects, but they had a big mistake during the In Memoriam tribute to the biggest stars who passed away over the past year.

According to E! Online, the Recording Academy labeled Louis Vuitton artistic director and Off-White CEO Virgil Abloh a "Hip Hop Fashion Designer."

Following this, many fans were outraged and immediately criticized the organization for its mistake.

"Watching the Throne" podcast took to their official Twitter account to express their personal thoughts on the matter, saying Abloh was the "damn artistic director of Louis Vuitton menswear and founded a full-on fashion house in Milan."

The podcast account added that they get the Recording Academy trying to tie him to music to "explain the inclusion to clueless people," but respect is more important.

The outlet noted that the late fashion designer previously collaborated with Hip Hop artists, but being labeled as that won't summarize his career.

Aside from the brands he worked with, as mentioned above, he also designed for Fendi and Nike.

At the time of this writing, The Recording Academy has not publicly addressed the matter.
