AppleTV+ has been making some real strides lately in the fight to become the most sought after streaming service. Despite not always promoting their content as effectively as, say, Netflix, Disney+, or Paramount +, AppleTV+ has proven they are a definite contender especially after being the only streamer to win multiple Academy Awards for their film CODA, including Best Screenplay, best Supporting Actor (Troy Kotsur), and the coveted Best Picture at this year's Oscars. But their films aren't the only reason to subscribe to their service.

Severance, the workplace oddity produced by Ben Stiller, has been a hit for the streamer and with critics. So much so that it has been renewed for a second season even before it airs its Season 1 finale on Friday. The show stars Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette who work at a company where the workers have their memories outside the office removed when they are at work and have their memories of work removed when they leave for home. This leads some of the workers in the office to begin suspecting the company of being less than ethical, leading to a deep conspiratorial dive.

Ben Stiller said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter,

"It's really exciting to see the response from people who are loving the show - and the level of fan engagement. It has been a long road bringing Severance to television. I first read Dan's pilot over five years ago. It has always been a multi-season story, and I'm really happy we get to continue it. I'm grateful to our partners at Apple TV+ who have been behind it the whole way. Praise Keir!"

Head of programming Matt Cherniss also sang the praises of not only the show but the creatives behind it,

"Thanks to creator Dan Erickson, the brilliant Ben Stiller, and an incomparable cast and crew, Severance has imagined an existence that's equal parts riveting and enthralling as viewers around the globe can't get enough of these rich characters. We're excited to go deeper into this wholly unique world and unpack more layers of Lumon in season two."

There is no release date for Severance Season 2 as of yet.
