Britney Spears and Sam Asghari Are Clearly Excited For Their New Baby - But The Rest Of The Spears Family Isn't

The rumors and suspicions were correct - Britney Spears is pregnant!

Spears announced on Instagram that she discovered the pregnancy on a trip to Maui with husband Sam Asghari, after noticing that it looked like she had gained some weight. To her surprise, it wasn't just weight that she had gained!

Though Spears has long discussed wanting another baby, her previous conservatorship prevented her from doing so - still, it appears she wasn't exactly planning on being pregnant this soon after being freed.

Spears is also nervous about another aspect of the pregnancy:

"it's hard because when I was pregnant I had perinatal depression ... I have to say it is absolutely horrible ... women didn't talk about it back then ... some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her ... but now women talk about it everyday ... thank Jesus we don't have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret"

Her reflection draws into sharp relief just how much our views on women's bodies and mental health in general have progressed since Spears had her first children, now nearly ten years ago.

This time around, Spears knows what she's preparing for, and she's already forming a plan to do yoga every day to help keep her mental health in check. Britney's not alone in her commitment to doing everything she can for her new baby (or babies, as she seems to suspect there's more than one in there!)

Asghari is clearly very excited to be a father and start a family with his love - he posted on Instagram as well:

It's touching to see the love and commitment from these parents, who clearly weren't expecting this right now.

Of course, both posts already have tons and tons of likes - but there are a few noteworthy ones missing, namely from the majority of Britney's family members. The only one who has broken rank to like the post is Jamie Lynn Spears, with whom Britney has recently had a rather conflicted relationship.

We're so excited for Britney and Sam, and for their new baby, who we can tell is going to be born to two parents ready to give it all the love in the world.
