Netflix has dropped the trailer for their new Resident Evil series, based on the popular video game franchise, as part of their Geeked Week event and so far it looks killer.

The series is more of a spin-off than a direct rehash of the game series, creating new storylines and characters who have been affected by the evil Umbrella Corporation whose controversial experiments have led to the creation of the T-Virus which turns its victims into ravaging zombies and mutated creatures.

The official plot synopsis reads:

"Year 2036 - 14 years after the spread of Joy caused so much pain, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and mind-shattering creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father's chilling connections to the sinister Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie."

The trailer begins with a montage of then-and-now clips of the events of the show, letting the viewers in on what they can expect. Transitioning from the pristine facade of what Umbrella wants the public to to see and the bloody splatterfest left in the wake of their hubris years later and the survivors trying to make it through the carnage. The creature designs are well done, using the dark as an effective tool to keep the jump scares coming.
