After commentators mistook Gladys Knight for Dionne Warwick during this year's US Open, the latter immediately addressed the matter online. Recently, the singer finally broke her silence about the issue and revealed her true feelings after the TV mishap.

Taking to her official Twitter account, the Empress of Soul revealed that she had been "sisters" with Warwick for a long time.

Regarding how she felt after ESPN commentators have mistaken their identities, the songstress said she is "honored" about the mistake and hopes that her good pal feels the same way.

She concluded her post by saying, " I'm sure it was an honest mistake. It was a blessing to be in the house to see Serena's [Williams] greatness."

Many fans commended the singer in the reply section as they shared interview videos, pictures, as well as a GIF of her performing alongside Warwick, which she later retweeted.

Other Mistakes During US Open 2022

Many celebrities attended the US Open to watch several matches between tennis players, especially Serena Williams' games as she's set to retire after this year's tournament.

Some of the stars who were spotted in the audience area were Tiger Woods, Zendaya, Jared Leto, and many more.

However, one actress stood out as many people thought she was Beyoncé sitting during Williams' game. Little did fans know, it was Laverne Cox after all.

The "Inventing Anna" star wore an all-black sheer outfit and a facemask that covered the lower part of her face.

Cox responded to Twitter fans by compiling several posts about people who thought she was the "Renaissance" singer.

The star noted that she became a trending topic online and the internet "cackles over the mistaken identiy." She added that the tweets she shared were "funny as hell."

Many fans were divided over the mistaken identity as many of them thought it was indeed Beyoncé, but some people said they knew it was Cox right from the beginning.
