"Daliland" director Mary Harron breaks their silence on Ezra Miller's next big move of seeking mental health treatment and how the star performed on set as young Salvador Dali.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Mary Harron talked about her upcoming film, "Daliland". The film showcases the artistic reputation of Spanish artist Salvador Dali and the story of a gallery assistant behind the scenes of the famous artist, starring Ben Kingsley.

Ezra Miller is also set to star as the younger version of Salvador Dali. Recently, the "The Flash" star, who goes by they/them pronouns, broke their silence amidst the string of allegations this year and announced their decision to "seek mental health treatment". The actor has been arrested at least three times this year, with the latest count for "felony robbery".

In the interview with THR, Harron addressed the controversy surrounding the young Salvador Dali actor and expressed her approval of Miller's next big move.

"It's been very distressing and I'm glad that they have sought treatment and I don't think they should be doing anything besides getting treatment right now." Harron stated.

Haron also commented on the "The Perks of being a Wallflower" star's performance and praised Miller during his time on set.

"They arrived on set with a completely realized performance. They just dived very deep into the character, similar to how Ben Kingsley arrived on set," Harron said about Miller's performance.

Miller's Original role

In the interview with THR, Harron also revealed that Miller was initially set to play the role of James. However, the actor had to give up their position due to scheduling conflicts, as they were also set to star as Credence Barebones in "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore".

"Ezra had like three days between finishing 'Fantastic Beasts' and starting 'The Flash', and insisted on coming and doing our film. The story is all played out through this kind of Nick Carraway figure, who comes into Dali's life as an assistant and sees it all." Harron explained.

Eventually, the role of James was given to Christopher Briney, and Miller was given the supporting role of a young Salvador Dali. "Dalíland" is set to premiere on September 17, 2022, at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival.
