Country icon Toby Keith died Monday at 62 after battling stomach cancer.

Fans and famous friends of the songwriter turned to the comment section of his Instagram, leaving their condolences and kind words.

"Waking up to the terrible news that our friend, and legend @tobykeith has passed away from cancer. He was a true Patriot, a first class singer/songwriter, and a bigger than life kind of guy. He will be greatly missed," country music star John Rich wrote on Twitter, now known as X.

Fellow country singer Randy Houser commented on Instagram: "God bless you and family. Hard to imagine an America without Toby Keith in it."

"Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on Feb. 5 surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family during this time," the family posted during the early hours of the morning.

The country singer revealed his stomach cancer diagnosis in June 2022.

The multi-platinum-selling singer gave a calming performance at the 2023 People's Choice Country Awards, where he gracefully performed "Don't Let the Old Man In."

He was seemingly in good spirits accepting the Country Icon Award, opening his speech by joking, "I bet ya'll never thought you'd see me in skinny jeans."

The "Should've Been a Cowboy" singer leaves behind three children; Shelley, Krystal and Stelen. He is survived by his mother and two siblings.
