Many things have been spoiled about the main characters of season 3 of Person of Interest, but what will become of The Machine?

Person of Interest co-creator Jonathan Nolan told TVGuide in a report published Tuesday that The Machine would be independent but loyal in season 3.

"The Machine is now in charge of itself, but it still has an almost familial obligation to Finch (Michael Emerson)," Nolan said. "It's still honoring the terms of the relationship that Finch built into it." In the season 2 finale, The Machine managed to move itself as a means of self-preservation, with Finch unaware of what it would do next.

Near the end of the episode, The Machine called Root (new series regular Amy Acker) on the phone while she was in a mental institution, asking her "Can you hear me?" in a series of disjointed voices.

"It's a growing organism that is evolving, perhaps beyond the scale of [Finch's] understanding," executive producer Greg Plageman told TVGuide.

Nolan added, "A lot of people had plans for The Machine the past two seasons. This season, the question is: What are the machine's plans for us?"

In other Person of Interest spoiler news, the title for season 3, episode 5 was released by SpoilerTV Tuesday. The episode will be called Razgovor, which is a Russian word for talk, or conversation. This could mean that that The Machine will learn to communicate with humans in a more complex way.

Season 3 of Person of Interest is scheduled to premiere Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 10 p.m. on CBS.
