Chris Cuomo Stumbles, Gets Humiliated Live After Repeating Trump Talking Points

Chris Cuomo was in the hot seat after an angry confrontation with commentator Mehdi Hasan blew up on social media Monday night, coming under harsh criticism for the comments he made about the January 6 Capitol violence and for borrowing language used by right-wing activists.
On his NewsNation show, Cuomo challenged Hasan over responses to the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
"How would you analyze what you're hearing in response to this murder from the left?" Cuomo asked, drawing an instant response.
Hasan seemed caught off guard by the setup, "From the left?" he echoed, before embarking on a lengthy refutation that would occupy the rest of the segment.
"How would you analyze what you're hearing in response to this murder from the left?," Hasan began neutrally, "but the biggest point you've glossed over is the crackdown on free speech, this targeting of people for their views."
He then called out conservative leaders for politicizing Kirk's death, criticizing Vice President JD Vance specifically.
As Hasan continued, he pivoted to Cuomo's own remarks about January 6.
"You and I agreed it was an insurrection at the time," Hasan asserted. "So it's bizarre for Vance to say the opposite of what the official statistics, the think tanks, and the evidence tell us."
Cuomo dismissed the assertion, Show it to me. I never thought they were trying to take over the government. That's what an insurrection is," Cuomo said, clearly agitated.
Audiences were quick to social media, posting old video of Cuomo once calling the Capitol riot an insurrection.
"Chris sat up there and lied with his whole chest!" one Threads user penned.
"@chriscuomo April 8th, 2021 you called it an insurrection," another posted, citing a date and quote.
Responses were anywhere from stunned to mocking, Chris Cuomo was "absolutely unprepared for this and it's glorious to watch him stutter," user John Michael wrote.
Another commenter added, "It was so refreshing to listen to someone who spoke the truth with eloquence... and called out the bullsh-t lying going on right now!"
In contradiction of Cuomo's protestations, footage was brought back showing him earlier calling January 6 an insurrection, further undermining his credibility.
