Miley Cyrus is finally opening up about her controversial MTV Video Music Awards performance. In an interview with MTV, the We Can't Stop singer admitted she doesn't care with critics thought of her raunchy performance of Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines.

"I don't pay attention to the negative because I've seen this play out so many times. How many times have we seen this play out in pop music?" she said. "You know what's going to happen. Madonna's done it, Britney's done it, every VMAs performance, anyone that performed, that's what you're looking for, you're looking to make history. Me and Robin, the whole time said, you know we've got to make history right now."

In the clip, she continues to talk about how she didn't understand all the negative hype surrounding the performance, suggesting that people were really "over-thinking" it.

"What's amazing is, it's three days later and people are still talking about it. They're over-thinking it," Cyrus said. "You're thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it, like I didn't even think about it, that's just me."

Cyrus and Robin Thicke's performance of Blurred Lines also caught the attention of the Parents Television Council, a non-profit organization that plays the role of watch dog for explicit TV programming. The council issued a complaint against the VMAs. A few artists like Justin Timberlake have come to Cyrus' defense suggesting that "she's young."
