Spoilers for the upcoming season finale of Under the Dome, as well as season 2, were released Tuesday.

Dean Norris (who plays Big Jim on the series) spoke to TVLine about what viewers can expect in the season finale and beyond.

"You're going to learn a lot about the Dome," Norris explained. "It's all very satisfying and it will make you go, 'Oh, wow. OK, how are they going to play that out in Season 2?' It sets up for a great second season."

In the season's penultimate episode, which aired Monday, Big Jim established himself as the leader of Chester's Mill. The mysterious egg also started emitting a high-pitched tone and glowing red, which may correlate with Big Jim's rise to power. In the preview for the season finale, the Dome emits a black smoke, indicating that viewers may finally learn what's keeping the people of Chester's Mill under it.

Norris added that he's aware of the eventual series finale for Under the Dome, and it will be very different from Stephen King's novel, on which the series is based.

"There is a final ending for Under the Dome that is different than the book," Norris teased. "And when it was pitched to Stephen King, he said, 'Wow. I wish I'd thought of that.'"

BOOK SPOILERS: The Under the Dome novel offers the explanation that aliens trapped the residents of Chester's Mill under the dome as a form of entertainment for them. The novel ends with Julia convincing one of the aliens to lift the dome.

Under the Dome will air its season finale on Monday, Sept. 16 at 10 p.m. on CBS.
