Scandal character Quinn Perkins may continue down her dark path in season 3 of the ABC series and fans are expected to be shocked when they find out details about Olivia Pope's past, actress Katie Lowes explained to Enstars on Wednesday.

Leading up to the October premiere of the new season, Lowes talked about where her character is headed after drilling into a man's leg and torturing him in the season 2 finale. She agreed that Quinn has "Fifty Shades of Grey-like" tendencies when it comes to getting pleasure in the pain of others and wanting to keep on doing it. Lowes said her character will showcase more of her dark side in season 3 and explore where it takes her.

Questions will be answered regarding Quinn's torturous ways and how they affect the character's storyline.

"Where you left her off was that she was drilling dude's thigh and torturing him. so what you can expect to see is the aftermath of that," Lowes said, revealing spoilers at SELF Magazine's Women Doing Good Awards. "You can expect to see how that's affected her character, how it affected her relationship with Huck, if people in the office - Olivia Pope & Associates - whether they find out or not. and whether or not she's gonna continue down that dark path or come back."

Speaking in specific about Quinn's personality, Lowes said it has "been changing all along" and will continue to surprise fans in season 3.

"She's been getting darker and darker, and really getting more grounded and experimenting with kind of a little bit of an addictive reaction to torturing somebody," she added.

Another character's storyline that will take center stage is Olivia's relationship with her father Rowan, which was revealed in the season 2 finale. Lowes called Olivia's dynamic with her father "amazing" and added, "I cannot wait for you guys to see because what you're gonna realize in the first episode back is that there is so many things about Olivia that you do not know that will become apparent."

Both Quinn's and Olivia's backstories will be revealed in depth in in new season and the details will shock viewers, according to the actress.
