Lindsay Cross, the mother who stirred outrage on the web for confessing to letting her 4-year-old daughter wear make-up, defended her decision on ABC's Good Morning America.

Cross defended her decision on national TV Monday saying her daughter's make-up was just "child's play."

"When I wrote the piece I didn't think it was that monumental of a deal," Cross told GMA. "I didn't think that it was something that was just too out of the norm … I did notice some articles that said 'Suri Cruise wears very bright lipstick,' and there were so many people who were critiquing their parenting choices, because this 5-year-old is wearing make-up. I was like – 'of course she does, she's 5 and her mom wears lipstick.'

Cross wrote on Mommyish.com that she applied a "full face of make-up" to her daughter every holiday, performance, or any other event that the girl would deem necesarily fancy.

Reactions to the post included:

"'It is not cute. It is not funny. It is poor parenting."

"Please don't help your daughters fall into the "pretty" trap so young," another person said.
