For one brief, shining moment, Kevin Tran (Osric Chau) thought he was out of the prophet game.

Unfortunately, the advanced placement student is beginning to learn that this job will last until he dies. Just when he was starting to have a bit of a respite at the Men of Letters bunker, the angel tablet came back into the Winchester's hands and the rest of the world saw the angels fall. As season 9 begins, it looks like Kevin will be back to feverishly translating the word of God.

"In the beginning, the tablets won't be front and center, but they are still coveted by all sides," said Executive Producer Jeremy Carver, according to TV Guide's Comic-Con edition. "The boys will still need a prophet to interpret them."

However, now that Kevin is holed up in the bunker, viewers can expect to see more of him.

"Now he can spend time in the Men of Letters. We should expect him to actually get to interact with people." Chau told TV Rage. "He does spend more time with the Winchester brothers, and he gets to spend some time with Crowley (Mark Sheppard)."

From footage shown at Comic-Con, Kevin is expected to be in the season premiere, and twitter photos have shown Chau filming for episode 2, "Devil May Care."

Although Kevin is definitely appearing in season 9, what has become of his mother (Lauren Tom). While Crowley claimed Mrs. Tran was dead, viewers never actually saw her body.

"Even if we did see her dead and [her] body, I think we would have her back," Chau said, according to TV Rage. "But, because the angels are expelled from heaven, and hell doesn't really have a king anymore ... the deathly realms [and] the doors are wide open. I feel like that's a very strong possibility."

Find out how Kevin and his mother fare when Supernatural returns to the CW on Oct. 8.
