Dance vet Paula Abdul has spoken out about the "twerking" craze that has become a major facet in pop culture.

While Miley Cyrus has given the dance a new platform since her 2013 MTV VMA performance, Abdul told The Associated Press it was around long before that. But you probably won't catch her doing it.

"Twerking has been around for many, many years. [in older rap videos] girls were bending down and twerking all over the place...I think when girls dance, they should be girls. I don't find it the most attractive kind of dance. My Chihuahua can twerk and stick her tongue out at the same time too."

Still, lots of celebrities have busted out their twerking skills (or discovered) them , since Miley's made it a mainstream trend from her fellow Disney stars Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale to hip hop mogul Sean "P.Diddy" Combs to actress Paula Patton.
